Added encoding for resources

one; plus, they are brought to the foreground.

Takes care of gh #845 and also solved a pre-existing GUI bug

Selecting a JGraph node will now scroll to bring a random selected
instance in view - this should be modified in case a selected item is
already in view, and extended to allow searching for other selected
items, and also the selected item should probably be put in the
foreground
